Transport with a truck-mounted forklift: from the road to unloading

A delivery does not end when the truck arrives. The goods still have to come off the trailer and reach their drop-off point. This is where the truck-mounted forklift comes in. At Transport JKM, this equipment complements flatbed transport and makes it possible to offer unloading with the delivery.

A delivery does not end when the truck arrives. The goods still have to come off the trailer and reach their drop-off point. This is where the truck-mounted forklift comes in. At Transport JKM, this equipment complements flatbed transport and makes it possible to offer unloading with the delivery.

Two pieces of equipment, two roles

The flatbed trailer carries goods on the road. Its deck takes a range of loads, including materials and machinery. The forklift has a different role: it handles suitable goods when they are received.

This distinction matters for understanding what Transport JKM offers. A flatbed’s capacity and a forklift’s capacity are not interchangeable. An item that can travel on the trailer may need another means of unloading if it exceeds what the forklift can handle.

The handling equipment arrives with the delivery

A job site or a yard does not always have its own forklift. With a truck-mounted unit, the carrier has handling equipment at the destination. For suitable goods, unloading can therefore be part of the service booked with the transport.

At Transport JKM, this option complements materials deliveries in particular. It brings together two needs that would otherwise have to be arranged separately: moving the goods and setting them down on arrival.

Transport JKM’s fleet

Transport JKM has four truck-mounted forklifts with a capacity of 5,000 lb each. The company also has 36-, 42- and 44-foot flatbeds, each with a capacity of 30,000 lb. The 42-foot flatbed has a hydraulic ramp. A 24-foot enclosed trailer with a capacity of 8,000 lb completes the fleet.

These specifications explain the range of services, but each piece of equipment keeps its own role. The four forklifts are four separate units; their capacities do not add up to a single lifting capacity.

One solution among several specialized services

Transport with unloading is part of a range that also covers materials, machinery, travel trailers, sheds and oversize loads. Transport JKM chooses the equipment that suits each job. The size of the item and the handling conditions determine which equipment is used.

To see how this service is used, Transport JKM’s own photos show materials, modules and buildings being moved. The equipment at work gives a concrete picture of the service.
